Bringing your own plan to Dream Division

You do not have to start from a blank room. Send us a drawing of your layout and it opens in your account as real track, laid from the makers' catalogs, with every curve and grade checked, within five business days.

What to send

A drawing of the whole layout, to scale. Any of these works:

  • A published plan: the page from the magazine or book, scanned or photographed flat. Tell us the issue and page.
  • Your own drawing on graph paper, photographed from straight above in good light, with the whole sheet in the frame.
  • A drawing from a layout program, exported as a picture or a PDF.

The size of the room or table. The length and width in feet and inches, and the ceiling height if the plan has more than one level. If the drawing has a grid or a scale bar, say what one square or one bar stands for.

The scale you model in. HO or N.

The track you want to build with. The maker and the rail code, for example Atlas code 83 or Kato Unitrack. If you have not decided, say so and we will lay it in Atlas code 83 for HO or Kato Unitrack for N, and you can change it in the editor.

Anything the drawing cannot show. Which tracks are hidden or in tunnels, which are on a second level or a helix, which turnouts you already own, where the aisles are. A few sentences is enough.

What we send back

Your plan, open in your account, as real track from the catalog: every straight, curve and turnout a part you can buy, every join closed, the checks run in plain words. With it comes a short note of anything we had to decide for you, such as a turnout size the drawing did not give, or a curve the drawing drew tighter than any part allows, so you know where to look first.

What we cannot do

  • A drawing with no scale and no measurements. Give us the room size and the length of one or two tracks, and we can usually work from there.
  • A photograph taken at an angle, out of focus, or with part of the sheet cut off. Take it again from straight above.
  • A plan drawn for a different scale than the one you model in. We lay the drawing as drawn; we do not redesign it to fit a new scale or a smaller room. You can do that in the editor once the plan is in.
  • A plan with more than two levels, for now.

Files and sizes

JPG, PNG, HEIC or PDF, up to 25 MB each. Several files are fine: a drawing, a close-up of a crowded corner, a photograph of the article's data box.

Your drawing stays yours

We use your drawing only to build your layout and show it to no one else. A published plan is for your own layout; we do not publish it or offer it to other members.

How to send it

From January 2027, choose Import in the app and upload your files there. Until then, founding members can write to hello@dreamdivision.app and we will take it from there.
